Blue Jays Roster Moves

The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have placed RHP SERGIO SANTOS on the 15-day disabled list with a right elbow strain, optioned C ERIK KRATZ to Buffalo and have recalled infielder JONATHAN DIAZ and RHP CHAD JENKINS from Buffalo of the International League (AAA).

 

SANTOS, 30, has appeared in 14 games this season, posting a 0-2 record with a 9.00 ERA and five saves. The right-hander is in his 5th Major League season and owns a 7-11 record with a 3.65 ERA and 39 saves in 168 games.

 

KRATZ, 33, is batting .231 in 11 games for Toronto this season with two home runs and six RBI. The right-handed hitter owns a career batting average of .220 with 20 home runs and 59 RBI in 140 games.

 

DIAZ, 29, returns for a 2nd stint in Toronto this season. Appeared in 22 games in April prior to being optioned on April 30 and is currently batting .176 with one double and one stolen base.

 

JENKINS, 26, returns for a 3rd time in 2014, having appeared in three games for the Blue Jays all in relief. The right-hander has allowed three runs over three innings (9.00 ERA) while striking out two. In nine games for the Bisons (one start) he has posted a 1-1 record and a 2.25 ERA.
