Jays' Tellez flaunts power in Fall League win

Power has always been a big part of Rowdy Tellez's skillset, and the Toronto prospect is making that apparent in the Arizona Fall League.

Tellez's power was on full display as he hit a three-run homer and led the Salt River Rafters to a 5-0 win over the Glendale Desert Dogs on Monday afternoon.

Tellez, the No. 7 prospect in the Blue Jays organization, finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs and is now hitting .318 in the AFL.

Coming off a season in which he posted career highs in both home runs, 14, and RBIs, 77, Tellez has continued to hit in the Fall, leading the Rafters with three home runs and 13 RBIs in 11 games.

While Tellez's blast broke the game open in the sixth, it was Arizona's Daniel Palka that got the offense going as he doubled and scored in the first inning, giving Kyle Freeland all the support he needed.

Palka, the No. 29 prospect in the D-backs organization, extended his hitting streak to 11 games and turned in his fourth multi-hit game as he went 3-for-5 on the afternoon.

Freeland, the No. 9 prospect in the Rockies organization has been pitching well in Arizona with Monday's start serving as the latest example.

The left-hander allowed five hits, but struck out four in four scoreless innings as he continues to improve.

Freeland gave up six runs in 2/3 of an inning in his Arizona Fall League debut, but has been lights out ever since.

In his last three outings, the Colorado farmhand has allowed just one run over 13 frames.
