Deep thoughts: 4 HRs in ALCS Game 3

The Blue Jays and Royals combined to hit four home runs on Monday night at Rogers Centre in their Game 3 slugfest in the American League Championship Series (Game 4, today, 3 p.m. ET air time on FOX Sports 1/Sportsnet, 4 p.m. game time).

Toronto emerged with an 11-8 victory, highlighted by three home runs -- by Troy Tulowitzki, Josh Donaldson and Ryan Goins. Kansas City made a late push, capped off by Kendrys Morales' two-run homer in the top of the ninth, but ultimately came up short.

The teams not only left the yard, but they did so in style, combining for three of the postseason's 16 longest home runs to this point. According to Statcast™, Donaldson's blast traveled a projected 443 feet, marking the fifth-longest home run this postseason. Morales' shot, meanwhile, traveled a projected 431 feet, the 10th-longest homer this postseason, and Tulowitzki's traveled a projected 422 feet, checking in at No. 16. 

It wasn't just distance, however, as Donaldson's towering homer jumped off his bat at 112.52 mph, the second-hardest homer hit this postseason, behind only the 112.54-mph exit velocity registered off thea bat of Cubs slugger Kyle Schwarber in Game 4 of the National League Division Series. It was also Donaldson's hardest-hit homer at any point this season.

Overall, the four home runs tied for the second-most homers hit in an AL postseason game this year. The only postseason game on the Junior Circuit to produce more home runs so far was Game 4 of the ALDS matchup between the Royals and Astros, who combined for six homers.
