DUNEDIN, Fla. -- Seunghwan Oh didn't see a lot of action this spring, but it might not matter based on the way he has pitched since returning to the mound.
Oh was held out for almost all of Spring Training because of a work visa issue. His Grapefruit League debut did not come until Wednesday, when Oh required just seven pitches to get through a scoreless inning of work. His next appearance was even easier.
The 35-year-old retired all four batters he faced in a Minor League game against the Phillies on Saturday afternoon. Oh struck out three, including the first two batters on six pitches, and threw 14 of his 19 pitches for strikes.

"Facing more hitters, obviously important, but I wanted to focus more on how my fastball is coming out and my offspeed is coming out," Oh said through an interpreter. "So just focused on that today. ... Whenever I pitched the ball, it wasn't coming up too high in the zone. So I was happy with that."
Oh is vying for one of the top setup roles in Toronto's bullpen. Once the regular season begins, he will be competing against veteran John Axford and returnee Dennis Tepera for the eighth-inning job in front of closer Roberto Osuna. Oh went 1-6 with a 4.10 ERA and 20 saves over 62 appearances for the Cardinals last season.
Donaldson gets the day off
Josh Donaldson and Devon Travis were scratched from the Blue Jays' lineup on Saturday afternoon, but their absences were not because of injuries. Toronto's plan just simply changed. Blue Jays manager John Gibbons decided to give them a day off because neither player will be going to Montreal next week. Instead, Donaldson and Travis will remain behind to continue playing in Minor League games in advance of Thursday's regular-season opener.
"Josh and Devon aren't going to go to Montreal with us, keep them off the turf," Gibbons said. "They're going to stay back here, so I just pushed them back a day. We'll stretch them out tomorrow and then they'll play a couple of games down here. That was it."
Dermody clears waivers
Left-hander Matt Dermody cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday morning. Dermody was designated for assignment earlier this week to make room for right-hander Sam Gaviglio. The 27-year-old Dermody has a 5.33 ERA in 28 career appearances at the big league level.
Toronto also announced on Saturday afternoon that veteran lefty Craig Breslow was released from his Minor League contract. Breslow signed a non-guaranteed deal prior to the start of Spring Training and he was an early favorite to win a job in the bullpen, but that changed when the Blue Jays signed Oh and Tyler Clippard midway through camp.

Right-hander Marco Estrada will make his final start of the spring when the Blue Jays close out their Grapefruit League season on Sunday afternoon against the Pirates. First pitch is scheduled for 1:07 p.m. ET as Estrada will have one last tuneup before he takes the mound for Toronto's third game of the regular season against the Yankees. After the Blue Jays complete their Florida schedule, they will travel to Montreal for a two-game exhibition series against the Cardinals.
