The Toronto Blue Jays have signed 3B Josh Donaldson to a 2-year contract, worth US $28.65 million (US $11.65 million in 2016 and US $17 million in 2017).
 
Donaldson, 30, posted a .297 average with 41 home runs and an AL leading 123 RBI in his first season as a Blue Jay in 2015. The performance earned several post-season awards, most notably being AL MVP, becoming just the 2nd Blue Jay to earn the award (George Bell - 1987). The Pensacola, Florida native was named Player of the Year by the Sporting News and by his peers, (Players Choice Award) in addition to picking up the Hank Aaron Award as AL's best hitter and earning his first Silver Slugger award at 3rd base. The 2015 All-Star has posted 94 home runs and 314 RBI in his last three seasons, playing in 158 games each year.
