Blue Jays sign Marco Estrada

The Toronto Blue Jays have agreed to terms with RHP Marco Estrada on a two-year contract worth US $26 million.

Estrada, 32, appeared in 34 games, including a career-high 28 starts, for the Blue Jays this past season and posted career bests in ERA (3.13), wins (13), opponents' batting average (.203), strikeouts (131), innings pitched (181.0) and WHIP (1.04). His .203 opponents' average led the AL, while ranking 4th in MLB. The native of Sonora, Mexico limited the opposition to a .183 average following the All-Star break, ranking 1st in MLB.

In three post-season starts in 2015 he posted a 2-1 record with a 2.33 ERA, the lowest ERA among all starters this postseason (minimum 15.0 IP). It also marked the 2nd lowest ERA in the postseason by a Blue Jays starter in club history (Juan Guzman, 1.71 in 1992).

Marco Estrada and interim General Manager Tony LaCava are scheduled to address the media regarding the signing on Monday in Toronto. Details of the media availability to be announced later.
