Blue Jays trade RHP Jesse Chavez to Oakland

The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have traded RHP JESSE CHAVEZ to the Oakland Athletics in exchange for cash considerations.

CHAVEZ, who turned 29 on Tuesday, has split the 2012 season between Toronto and Las Vegas of the Pacific Coast League (AAA).  The 6-2, 160lb. right handed pitcher appeared in nine games for Toronto making two starts and posted a 1-1 record with an 8.44 ERA.   In 19 games, 17 starts with Las Vegas, he has posted an 8-5 record with a save and a 3.98 ERA.  Chavez, who was claimed on waivers by the Blue Jays on October 21, 2011, has a career record of 7-11 in 152 Major League games with an ERA of 5.74 while pitching for Pittsburgh (2008-2009), Atlanta (2010), Kansas City (2011) and Toronto.
