TORONTO -- The Blue Jays traded left-handed starter Wade LeBlanc to the Mariners on Wednesday for a player to be named or cash.
The 31-year-old LeBlanc signed a Minor League contract with the Blue Jays in December, and he has spent his season with Toronto's Triple-A affiliate in Buffalo, where he was thriving. LeBlanc made 14 starts with the Bisons, pitching to a 7-2 record and a 1.71 ERA, which led the International League. He logged a league-high 89 2/3 innings and ranked third with 85 strikeouts.
The Lake Charles, La., native spent the 2015 season with with the Seibu Lions of the Japanese Pacific League, but he has spent parts of seven seasons in the Major Leagues, seeing time with the Padres, Marlins, Astros, Yankees and Angels.
The University of Alabama product has compiled a 21-33 record in the Majors in 107 appearances, including 71 starts, after being selected by the Padres in the second round of the 2006 Draft.
