DALLAS -- Oates Field at the Texas Rangers MLB Youth Academy played host to Friday's Prospect Development Pipeline Premier event, where many of the top high school players across Texas showcased their skills.

Among the group was top prospect and Colleyville Heritage shortstop Bobby Witt Jr., who is listed as the No. 1 overall pick to the Orioles in Jonathan Mayo's Way-Too-Early 2019 mock draft that just came out today.
In his past two seasons, Witt has batted over .470 and recorded 18 home runs, 93 RBIs and scored 92 runs. He is currently committed to Oklahoma.
Witt said he was impressed with the Rangers youth academy, which opened last year.
"It's truly a blessing," Witt said. "This facility's really nice, and just being out with some of the best people in the country, it's just great to have this in my backyard, and 25, 30 minutes away."
Witt is the son of former Rangers pitcher Bobby Witt, who played 11 seasons with the team. Scouts described the younger Witt as a gifted athlete with five-tool ability. They also saw improvement from Witt at the plate while he took part in batting practice and the showcase game.
Witt said Friday's PDP event was his first time on a field in a week. He plans on playing in several other showcases in the coming months.
"Shaking off the rust, just getting things back going and getting ready for this long summer," Witt said.
Had Witt been in the 2018 class, many scouts thought he had a chance to be taken early in the first round. Although he could potentially be the top pick in next year's Draft, Witt said he is not buying into it.
"That's kinda more just motivation," Witt said. "My goal right now is to just get better every day, just one step at a time. Whatever happens, happens. We'll see and accept it."
Here are some other names to know from the event:
Logan Britt, OF
Britt is considered one of the top prospects in Texas alongside Witt. One scout said he had the best showing at the plate during the PDP event. The scout added that he has all the initial tools of becoming a plus power hitter. Britt will graduate from All Saints Episcopal High School in Benbrook next year, and he has a commitment to Texas A&M.
Masyn Winn, RHP/SS
Scouts said Winn had the best fastball of the PDP event, but he is considered to be a talented two-way player with potential at both positions. Winn, who will be a junior at Kingwood High School next season, has a commitment to Stanford. Winn won a gold medal with the U-15 USA Baseball team in 2017.
Connor Phillips, RHP/SS
Phillips, who will be a senior at Magnolia West High School next season, is committed to LSU. Scouts also raved about his fastball during the event. Phillips also plays football at his school.
Tanner Witt, RHP/SS
The Houston native flashed his speed during the PDP event and is considered by scouts to have strong instincts and feel on the base paths, as well as 20/20 stolen base/home run potential. He will be a junior next season at Episcopal High School.
Jacob Meador, RHP
Scouts were impressed with Meador's makeup on the mound during the PDP event. One scout said he has great feel for the strike zone and can consistently spot his pitches. In March, he threw a no-hitter against Crowley High School, striking out 17 batters in the victory. Meador has a commitment to TCU.
The next PDP Premier event will be at Grizzly Baseball Complex in Gwinnet on June 11.
