What is happening with Brad Peacock on this play?

You know those moments in baseball games that look weird and almost from another plane of existence? The ones with circumstances that are hard to replicate, and perhaps only exist as a result of instinct and reflex?

They probably look pretty weird to people who don't follow baseball as religiously as the rest of us. To them, this play by the Astros' Brad Peacock in Wednesday night's game against the Mariners is probably hard to grasp:

I feel like this would be a pretty interesting way to be exposed to the game of baseball. As somebody who absorbs the game nonstop every day and night, it's pretty intense to me. So to somebody who isn't as intimately familiar with every type of random occurrence on the field? It's gotta be wild.
