PHOENIX -- The Dodgers had upbeat updates on rehabbing starting pitchers Brandon McCarthy and Hyun-Jin Ryu on Monday.
McCarthy, who is recovering from Tommy John surgery, pitched two innings for Class A Advanced Rancho Cucamonga on Saturday. Ryu, who had surgery to repair a torn labrum in his pitching shoulder last May, went three innings for Rancho Cucamonga on Sunday.
"McCarthy came out feeling well," said manager Dave Roberts. "Ryu threw well, three innings, felt as good as he's felt in any rehab start. That's exciting for us."
Roberts said both pitchers are on five-day cycles, so McCarthy will pitch again on Thursday and Ryu on Friday.
Yasiel Puig, out with a strained left hamstring, begin a rehab stint with Rancho Cucamonga Monday night.
