McCarthy, Ryu slated for rehab starts

June 11th, 2016

SAN FRANCISCO -- Right-hander Brandon McCarthy and left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu are on the comeback trail, though the Dodgers won't be expecting instant results.
McCarthy, recovering from Tommy John surgery, was scheduled to make his first rehab start with Class A Advanced Rancho Cucamonga at Lake Elsinore on Saturday night while Ryu is expected to resume his rehab Sunday afternoon with Rancho Cucamonga.
McCarthy, scheduled for two innings, last pitched April 25, 2015, allowing six runs in five innings against the San Diego Padres.
Ryu (left shoulder surgery) last pitched May 25, throwing four scoreless innings with Triple-A Oklahoma City. He last pitched in the Majors on Sept. 12, 2014, leaving a game against the Giants after giving up four runs in an inning.
"Hopefully they progress and come out of it well," manager Dave Roberts said before Saturday's game against the San Francisco Giants. "We're looking at four or five starts for each guy. If they continue to pass the tests, we'll get them back here."
