The Atlanta Braves have claimed outfielder Eury Perez off waivers from the New York Yankees.

Perez, 24, appeared in four major league games with the Yankees last year after spending most of the season with Triple-A Syracuse in the Washington Nationals organization. The right-handed outfielder hit .311 last season with 13 doubles and 20 stolen bases while with Syracuse.

Over eight minor league seasons, the native of the Dominican Republic owns a .305 batting average over 699 career games in the Washington organization. Perez owns 268 career stolen bases in the minors with seven seasons of 20-or-more.

Perez was originally signed by the Washington Nationals as a non-drafted free agent in 2007.
