Braves drop replay challenge in fifth against Cardinals

ST. LOUIS -- Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez unsuccessfully challenged a call at first base during the fifth inning of Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

Allen Craig's sharp ground ball to short erased Matt Holliday at second, but Dan Uggla's throw to first was high and caused Freddie Freeman to jump. First-base umpire Chris Guccione ruled that Freeman didn't come back down on the bag and ruled Craig safe.

Gonzalez challenged, but the call stood. It was the first time in six challenges this season that the Braves lost. The challenge lasted one minute and 42 seconds.

Craig eventually came around to score on a Matt Adams sacrifice fly.
