August 30th, 2017

PHILADELPHIA -- The Braves worked out their Phillies frustrations in Game 1 of Wednesday's doubleheader at Citizens Bank Park.
They snapped a seven-game losing streak against the Phillies with a 9-1 victory. ' 2,000th career hit -- a blooper to right-center field -- scored the game's first run in the first inning. Freddie Freeman followed with a two-run home run to right as the Braves (58-72) continued their hitting and scoring from there.
"I still got 1,000 more hits to go," Phillips said. "I just try to go out there and play the game the best way I know how. It feels good to finally reach that milestone. For that to really happen, just shows I've played through injuries. I've been playing for a long time and I've been doing my job."

went 5-for-5 with one triple, four RBIs and one walk. He joined Kenny Lofton (1997) as the only Braves on record (going back to 1913) to have as many as three five-hit games in a season. Only three players in MLB have done it since Lofton: (2004, four times), Charlie Blackmon (2014) and (2015).
"Just a good offensive effort, we needed that," Braves manager Brian Snitker said. "Figured we'd win a game here."

Phillies right-hander left the game in the third inning because of nerve irritation in his right hand. He allowed six hits and six runs in two-plus innings as the Phillies (49-82) officially clinched their fifth consecutive losing season.
"I'm concerned because it came out of the blue," Phillies manager Pete Mackanin said about Eickhoff's arm issue. "We had no indication. We'll have to wait and see."
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Dickey dialed in: Braves knuckleballer R.A. Dickey continues to dominate the Phillies. He allowed just seven hits and one run, throwing 121 pitches in eight innings. He struck out nine. He is 2-0 with a 0.82 ERA (two earned runs in 22 innings) in three starts this season against the Phillies.

"It's so fun to pitch with a lead like that because you can really expand your repertoire a little bit and explore some things you don't normally get to explore in a closer game," Dickey said of the Braves' quick 8-0 lead after three innings. He threw 39 fastballs in the game, more than he's thrown in any start in his career.
Phillies rookies keep it going:  extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a single to left field in the seventh inning. It was his first game since Aug. 22 without an extra-base hit or RBI. later singled to score Hoskins for the Phillies' only run. Alfaro has reached base safely in all 12 of his starts this season.
