ATLANTA -- Though he had felt some left hamstring discomfort earlier this week, Ender Inciarte convinced manager Fredi Gonzalez he was healthy enough to be in the lineup for Friday night's series opener against the Cardinals. But it did not take long before Inciarte was walking back off the field.
Inciarte made an immediate exit after he felt left hamstring tightness while running to first base during the first inning of Friday's 7-4 loss to the Cardinals at Turner Field. The Braves' center fielder did not feel anything pop and is hopeful that he will be sidelined for just a couple of days.
"When I was running to first base, I was moving hard," Inciarte said. "But the further I went, I was feeling tight, tight, tight. I feel like I stopped right before it popped."
In 2015, Inciarte missed a month after he felt his right hamstring pop while he was playing for the D-backs.

There's a strong possibility that Inciarte will miss the remainder of this weekend's series, but the Braves are at least optimistic that their leadoff hitter and center fielder will return to action during next week's series against the Nationals.
"I depend on my legs," Inciarte said. "It's frustrating that I've been having hamstring issues since last year. It's a different leg, and hopefully, it won't be that bad."
The 25-year-old showed some hesitance as he ran toward first base after leading off the bottom of the first with a groundball that drew an errant throw from shortstop Jedd Gyorko. He took a step beyond the first-base bag after realizing he would be safe and then looked into his team's dugout. After being briefly evaluated, Inciarte walked off the field under his own power and then seemed to show a slight limp as he made his way down the dugout stairs on his way to the clubhouse. He was replaced by Drew Stubbs, who will likely serve as the Braves' center fielder over the next few days.
Inciarte was acquired by the Braves in the blockbuster deal that sent Shelby Miller to the D-backs in December. The talented center fielder displayed his tremendous defensive value on Wednesday, when he robbed Ryan Zimmerman of a hit with a diving catch in right field and then made a pinpoint throw to first base to double off Bryce Harper.
