Making his first career All-Star appearance, Julio Teheran cruised through a 1-2-3 fifth inning at the 2016 All-Star Game presented by MasterCard, as the National League lost to the American League, 4-2.
Teheran was the NL's fourth pitcher of the evening. He entered in the bottom of the fifth with his team down by two runs and quickly retired three big-name AL batters.
Manny Machado gave Teheran a scare to lead off the inning, poking a fly ball to deep left field, but Adam Duvall made the catch on the warning track. Teheran then induced Edwin Encarnacion to pop up to Wilson Ramos against the backstop behind the plate, before getting Francisco Lindor to sky a pop fly to shortstop Corey Seager.

All in all, Teheran threw 12 pitches, nine of them for strikes.
Teheran was one half of an historic all-Colombian fifth inning, after his countryman, Jose Quintana, pitched the top half for the AL. Before Teheran and Quintana, only one Colombian-born player (Edgar Renteria) had appeared in an All-Star Game.
"We got two this year," Teheran said Monday afternoon during All-Star Game media day. "We're enjoying this event right now."
Though this was Teheran's second All-Star selection, Tuesday was his first appearance in the game. He was named to the team in 2014 but did not pitch.
The Braves righty earned his way back to the All-Star Game this year with a first half in which he recorded a 2.96 ERA and struck out 107 batters in 118 2/3 innings.
"I'm just happy to be back. Last year, I couldn't," Teheran said Monday. "I'm happy and proud to be representing the Braves one more time."
Teheran was the Braves' lone All-Star representative.
