ATLANTA - The Atlanta Braves acquired minor-league infielder Dylan Moore from the Texas Rangers and minor-league catcher Matt Foley from the Miami Marlins in a three-team trade completed tonight. In exchange for Moore and Foley, the Braves dealt outfielder Jeff Francoeur and cash considerations to the Marlins, while also sending International Bonus Pool Slot No. 93 to the Rangers. Additionally, the Marlins sent two International Bonus Pool Slots, No. 37 and No. 97, to the Rangers to complete the deal.
Moore, 24, hit a combined .263 (109-for-414) with 14 home runs, 59 RBI and 40 stolen bases in 118 games at two levels of Texas' system this season. The 6-foot-0, 185-pound native of Newport Beach, Calif., began the year with Single-A Hickory of the South Atlantic League before an August promotion to High-A High Desert. With High Desert, Moore hit five home runs in 17 games while batting .351 (18-for-74).
Originally selected by the Rangers in the seventh round of the 2015 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Central Florida, Moore has played every position except catcher this season. The majority of his games have come at first base (72 games, 68 starts) and shortstop (20 games, 19 starts).
Foley, 22, hit .257 (9-for-35) in 14 combined games for Single-A Batavia and the rookie-level Gulf Coast Marlins this season. The Marlins' 40th-round selection in the 2015 First-Year Player Draft out of Rhode Island College, Foley made his professional debut last June with the GCL Marlins.
Francoeur, 32, hit .249 (64-for-257) with seven home runs and 33 RBI in 99 games with the Braves after signing a minor-league deal with the club on February 26. This was Francoeur's second stint with the Braves after the team selected him in the first-round of the 2002 First-Player Draft. He made his MLB debut with Atlanta in 2005 and the team dealt him to the New York Mets for outfielder Ryan Church on July 10, 2009.
