OAKLAND -- The Braves received mixed news on the injury front Friday, as catcher Tyler Flowers returned, but first baseman Matt Adams was held out of the starting lineup a day after fouling a pitch off his left foot.
Adams exited Thursday's contest in the second inning and was moving around slowly in the visitors' clubhouse before Friday's game in Oakland.
"He's sore," Atlanta manager Brian Snitker said. "He's day to day. Not moving around too good, so we're just re-evaluating, treating him day to day, and let's see if we can get him back in here [Saturday]."
Adams has been a major boon for the Braves since they acquired him via trade from St. Louis on May 20, two days after first baseman Freddie Freeman broke his left wrist. Adams has been particularly hot lately, slashing .362/.415/.741 with six homers and 16 RBIs in the previous 16 contests.
"He's been a force," Snitker said. "He's allowed guys to try and not make up for the loss of Freddie. It's been huge what he's brought to this team."

Flowers, meanwhile, only needed to sit out one game after being plunked in the left forearm on Wednesday. Snitker said Flowers has no restrictions and is slated to start back-to-back contests to begin the series in Oakland.
"He's fine," Snitker said. "He was good [Thursday], really. They got that compression stuff on it. He hit and everything [Thursday], so he's good to go."
