Braves Minor Leaguer O'Dowd suspended for PEDs

ATLANTA -- Braves Minor League catcher Chris O'Dowd was suspended for 80 games on Wednesday after testing positive for performance-enhancing substances.

O'Dowd, who has hit .304 with an .897 OPS in 26 games with Double-A Mississippi this season, tested positive for Testosterone metabolites of exogenous origin -- a performance-enhancing substance that violates the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.

O'Dowd is the son of Dan O'Dowd, former Rockies general manager and an analyst for MLB Network and He has spent the entire season with Mississippi after the Braves acquired him in a trade with the Rockies this January.
