Braves non-tender three players

Atlanta also agrees to terms with RHP Chase Whitley

The Atlanta Braves have declined to tender a 2018 contract offer to INF Matt Adams, INF/OF Jace Peterson, and INF/OF Danny Santana, while also agreeing to terms with RHP Chase Whitley on a one-year, non-guaranteed contract for the 2018 season to avoid salary arbitration with the right-hander.

Adams, Peterson, and Santana are now free to negotiate with any Major League team. Following the moves, the club has 37 players on its 40-man roster.

Adams, 29, hit .271 with 19 home runs and 58 RBI in 100 games with the Braves last season after the club acquired him from St. Louis on May 21.

Peterson, 27, hit .240 over his three years with the Braves, including .215 in 89 games last season.

Santana, 27, appeared in 69 games with the Braves last season and hit .203 after the club acquired him from Minnesota on May 8.

The Braves have four remaining arbitration-eligible players who are unsigned for the upcoming season: RHP Mike Foltynewicz, LHP Sam Freeman, RHP Dan Winkler, and RHPArodys Vizcaíno.
