Braves respond to prospect Reyes' arrest

The Braves issued a statement in response to the recent arrest of Triple-A Gwinnett's Elmer Reyes, who was charged with kidnap and rape in Columbus, Ohio, this past weekend.

"We were very concerned to learn of the arrest of Elmer Reyes in Franklin County on Saturday (May 23) morning," the statement read. "We will withhold further comment until we learn additional details and have all of the facts."

Reyes was released from jail after posting the $50,000 bond that was set during Tuesday's arraignment hearing. The Braves said the 24-year-old infielder will be restricted from playing during the investigation.

The Gwinnett Braves played a four-game series in Columbus this past weekend.

Reyes is scheduled to return to Columbus for a June 2 court appearance.
