CHICAGO -- Brett Lawrie was back in the White Sox clubhouse Tuesday but not ready to suit up for the team.
The second baseman returned from his rehab assignment with Double-A Birmingham, testing a strained left hamstring that had him sidelined since July 22 after having to leave early from his last two games.
White Sox manager Robin Ventura didn't have an update on Lawrie's condition but didn't feel he was done for the season.
"I wouldn't think so. He's still moving around and playing," Ventura said. "I wouldn't think so, but I'm not a doctor. I know he'll get checked out and we'll figure that out."
Miguel González, out since Aug. 12 with a right groin strain, threw off the mound Sunday and played catch from 120 feet Tuesday. The right-handed starter reported improvement and is scheduled to throw another bullpen session on Wednesday.
Outfielder Avisaíl García returned from his rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte and was reinstated. To make room for Garcia, Jason Coats was optioned to Charlotte.
Garcia reported no issues with a right knee sprain putting him on the disabled list, pointing out that he went from first base to home during his time with Charlotte.
"I'm going to play hard and help us win the last month and see what happens," said Garcia, who was in right field and hitting eighth on Tuesday night.
"You want to see him get out there and get better," Ventura said. "Offensively, he's come a long way from where he was earlier in the year. He's got some power numbers you're starting to see trend in a good direction for him. Defensively, he's got some work to do but he can get to the point where he can be there, an outfielder that you want to have in the outfield and have some confidence in."
Saladino battling back
Although Tyler Saladino was out of the lineup for a fourth straight game, his back felt good enough Tuesday to go out and do pregame work. Saladino's back locked up at the end of the last road trip.
"It just kind of happened," Saladino said. "Really nothing in particular that I could think of. It just got tight. It was at the end of the last road series. It was tight and tough to move around and do baseball sort of stuff. We backed off it a little bit and it feels better."
Tebow not in White Sox plans
The White Sox will not be one of the teams in attendance during Tim Tebow's open workout next week. The former college football star and NFL quarterback reportedly will work out in Los Angeles on Aug. 30.
