Brewers acquire SS Domnit Bolivar in the Triple-A phase of the Rule 5 Draft

LHP Lucas Luetge Selected by Seattle in the Major League Phase

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Brewers today selected shortstop Domnit Bolivar in the Triple-A phase of the Rule 5 Draft at the Major League Baseball Winter Meetings in Dallas, Texas.  The Brewers also lost one player at the event.

Bolivar, 22, was selected in the first round of the Triple-A phase off the Double-A Springfield roster of the St. Louis Cardinals.  He batted a combined .276 (97-for-351) with nine home runs and 50 RBI in 104 games between Class-A Palm Beach and Double-A Springfield.  A native of Caracas, Venezuela, he originally signed with the Cardinals as a non-drafted free agent on July 12, 2005.

The Brewers did not make a selection in the Major League phase or Double-A phase of the draft.

The Brewers lost left-handed pitcher Lucas Luetge (Mariners, Major League phase – 3rd overall) at today’s Rule 5 Draft.  He went 1-3 with a 3.13 ERA and three saves in 46 games (1 start) with Double-A Huntsville this past season.
