Thames' power not translating into ASG votes

Brewers' first baseman is NL leader in home runs

MILWAUKEE -- The Brewers are hanging onto first place thanks in part to ' recent power surge, but that has yet to translate into success at the All-Star Game ballot box. Thames was outside the top five vote-getters among National League first basemen as of Monday's update from Major League Baseball.
The Nationals' led the way with more than 1.4 million votes, followed by of the Cubs, of the D-backs, Freddie Freeman of the Braves and Joey Votto of the Reds.

No Brewers player ranked among the top five at catcher or on the infield, or in the top 15 outfielders, in the latest round of results.
Fans may cast votes for starters at MLB.com and all 30 club sites -- on computers, tablets and smartphones -- exclusively online using the 2017 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot until Thursday, June 29, at 10:59 p.m. CT. On smartphones and tablets, fans can also access the ballot via the MLB.com At Bat and MLB.com Ballpark mobile apps. Vote up to five times in any 24-hour period for a maximum of 35 ballots cast.
Following the announcement of the 2017 All-Star starters, reserves and pitchers, fans should return to MLB.com and cast their 2017 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Final Vote for the final player on each league's All-Star roster. Then on Tuesday, July 11, while watching the 2017 All-Star Game presented by MasterCard live on FOX, fans may visit MLB.com to submit their choices for the Ted Williams Most Valuable Player Award presented by Chevrolet with the 2017 MLB All-Star Game MVP Vote.
The 88th Midsummer Classic, at Marlins Park in Miami, will be televised nationally by FOX Sports; in Canada by Rogers Sportsnet and RDS; and worldwide by partners in more than 160 countries. Thames homered in four straight games last week, including go-ahead shots in back-to-back games at St. Louis and at home against the Padres. Entering Monday's game against the Pirates, Thames has hit six dingers in June after just three in May. Thames leads the NL with 20 home runs. As of Monday's ballot update, only of the Yankees (23 home runs) and of the Rays (21) had hit more baseballs over fences this season than Thames.
The top vote-getter at catcher and each infield position will start for the NL.
