Segura may sit Sunday with tight forearm

Shortstop exits Saturday's game two innings after being hit by ball while swinging

DENVER -- Brewers All-Star shortstop Jean Segura said he expected to sit out Sunday's series finale against the Rockies after exiting Saturday's game with a tight right forearm.

Segura left in the sixth, two innings after he was hit by the ball on the right arm on an awkward swinging strike against Rockies right-hander Collin McHugh. Segura threw his bat after being struck, and was tended to by Brewers head athletic trainer Dan Wright, but after taking a few practice swings, he opted to remain in the game and grounded out.

When the arm tightened, the Brewers decided to remove their prized shortstop from the game. He did not need X-rays, and the injury was diagnosed as merely a bruise.

"I had a hard time gripping the ball, gripping the bat," Segura said. "It was a good decision."

Manager Ron Roenicke said he wanted to speak to Segura on Sunday morning before making a call about the lineup. Segura was 2-for-3 with two RBIs before Saturday's early exit and leads the team with a .315 batting average.

"He may be sore tomorrow," Roenicke said.
