Arcia to play in All-Star Futures Game

MILWAUKEE -- Brewers top prospect Orlando Arcia has been selected to participate in the Sirius XM All-Star Futures Game, which will take place July 12 at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati.

The 20-year old shortstop is batting .307 with four home runs and 36 RBIs this season with Double-A Biloxi of the Southern League. He's currently ranked 73rd on MLB.com's Top 100 Prospects.

Arcia, a native of Anaco, Venezuela, led the Florida State League in hits (144) in 2014 and ranked among the league leaders in stolen bases (31), and batting average (.289). The Brewers signed him as a non-drafted free agent in 2010.

Arcia will represent the World Team in the Futures Game, while Biloxi's pitching coach, Chris Hook, was named to the U.S. Team's coaching staff, which will be led by Ken Griffey Sr. Tony Perez will manage the World Team.

Major League Baseball, in conjunction with the Major League Baseball Scouting Bureau, MLB.com, Baseball America and the 30 Major League Clubs, selected the 25 players currently on each team. Each Major League organization is represented, and players from all full-season Minor League clubs were eligible to participate.

The 17th annual SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game takes place at 3 p.m. ET on July 12, and it can be seen live on MLB Network and MLB.com, with Matt Vasgersian, Dan Plesac, Heidi Watney and Jonathan Mayo on the call. In addition, SiriusXM Radio will broadcast play-by-play coverage of the event live on MLB Network Radio (XM channel 89; Sirius channel 209). MLB.com will also provide complete coverage before, during and after the game. The Brewers currently have nine players on their Major League roster that played in the Futures Game while with the organization or another since 1999. That list includes U.S Team members: Neal Cotts (2003), Ryan Braun (2006), Matt Garza (2007), Scooter Gennett (2012) and Jimmy Nelson (2013). Aramis Ramirez (1999), Francisco Rodriguez (2002), Gerardo Parra (2008) and Jean Segura (2012) represented the World Team.
