Arcia named Breakout Prospect of the Year
Shortstop impressed in first season at Double-A level
Brewers shortstop prospect Orlando Arcia on Tuesday was named Breakout Prospect of the Year by MiLB.com, the latest honor bestowed upon the 21-year-old Venezuelan.
Arcia, who batted .307 with 52 extra-base hits for Biloxi in his first season at the Double-A level, had earlier been named the Brewers Minor League Player of the Year and also received a Rawlings Minor League Gold Glove for his defensive prowess.
"We are extremely proud of Orlando's success and development with the Biloxi Shuckers this year," said Brewers general manager David Stearns. "Orlando had a terrific season and we look forward to his continued progression through the organization."
Arcia's 37 doubles led the Southern League, and he ranked second in total bases (232), fourth in RBIs (69) and fifth in runs (74).
He set career highs across the board in his fourth Minor League season after signing as a non-drafted free agent in 2010.
