MILWAUKEE -- The Brewers' recent prospect stockpiling was reflected Friday, when MLBPipeline.com unveiled an updated list of baseball's Top 100 prospects that included five Brewers farmhands, led by shortstop Orlando Arcia at No. 6.
Arcia shot up the board with a breakthrough season at Double-A Biloxi, moving from No. 89 at this time last year to No. 12 at midseason to No. 6 today. Also in the Top 100 are outfielder Brett Phillips (No. 32), right-hander Jorge Lopez (No. 57), left-hander Josh Hader (No.61) and outfielder Trent Clark (No. 83).

Arcia, Lopez and Clark were originally signed or drafted by the Brewers (Clark was the team's first-round Draft pick last year). Phillips and Hader were among the four prospects acquired from Houston in July for Carlos Gomez and Mike Fiers.

The annual ranking of baseball's Top 100 Prospects is assembled by MLBPipeline.com Draft and prospect experts Jonathan Mayo, Jim Callis and Mike Rosenbaum, who compile input from industry sources, including scouts and scouting directors. It is based on analysis of players' skill sets, upsides, proximity to the Majors and potential immediate impact to their teams. Only players with rookie status entering the 2016 season are eligible for the list. The rankings follow the guidelines laid out by the Collective Bargaining Agreement, in terms of who falls under the international pool money rules: Players who were at least 23 years old when they signed and played in leagues deemed to be professional (Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Cuba) are not eligible. Dodgers shortstop prospect Corey Seager moved up to No. 1 on the list, ahead of Twins outfielder Byron Buxton. Nationals pitching prospect Lucas Giolito ranks third, followed by Dodgers left-hander Julio Urias, Phillies shortstop J.P. Crawford and then Arcia.

Only four teams had more than the Brewers' five prospects in the Top 100, led by the Phillies' seven.

Also, by assigning a value to each player (one point for the No. 100 prospect, two points for No. 99 and so on), MLBPipeline.com ranked the system by "Prospect Points," with the Brewers standing eighth with 266 points.

The Rangers topped that list with 353 points.

This marks the first time since 2012 that the Brewers had more than one prospect in the preseason Top 100. Arcia was the club's lone representative last year, preceded by Jimmy Nelson in '14 and Wily Peralta in '13.
