LOS ANGELES -- Scooter Gennett collected the Brewers' biggest hit and made their biggest play, but had little to show for it in a 10-inning, 3-2 loss to the Dodgers on Friday night.
Gennett's sixth-inning double gave Milwaukee a 2-1 lead that slipped away late, but his primary contribution to festivities at Dodger Stadium came in the third, when the Brewers' second baseman ranged deep down the right-field line to make an impressive, inning-ending catch to rob Justin Turner of at least a single on what became Turner's three-hit, three-RBI night.
"It's always a pick-me-up when you make some mistakes and your guys are able to make great plays," said Brewers starting pitcher Zach Davies, the beneficiary of Gennett's catch. "I saw everybody come crashing in 100 percent. It was a little nerve-wracking."
Gennett reached a top speed of 16.6 mph and covered 115 feet, according to Statcast™, before making the catch and tumbling onto the foul line.
Turner was the second of nine consecutive Dodgers retired from the third inning into the sixth by Davies, who lowered his ERA to 2.40 over his past nine starts by limiting the Dodgers to one run over seven innings.
