ANAHEIM -- After the offense was held in check through five innings, the Twins broke out with back-to-back homers from James Dozier and Max Kepler in the sixth in Thursday night's 7-4 loss to the Angels at Angel Stadium.
The Twins were limited to two hits through five scoreless frames against right-hander Garrett Richards, before Ehire Adrianza reached on an infield single to open the sixth and Joe Mauer smacked a hit-and-run single to left to put two runners on for Dozier.
Dozier didn't miss a 1-1 slider from Richards that caught too much of the plate, crushing it to left for a three-run blast. It left the bat at 103.5 mph and went a projected 407 feet, per Statcast™. It was the sixth homer of the year for Dozier, but his first that wasn't a solo shot. It was his first three-run homer since Sept. 29, 2017.
Dozier had a pair of singles, and he also doubled in the eighth for a four-hit game, matching his career high for the third time. He also had four hits against the White Sox twice, on May 3, 2015, and Aug. 30, 2017. He came into the game hitting .127 (8-for-63) over his previous 15 games.
"It was one of those nights," manager Paul Molitor said. "He's been working hard to get a feel, and he was rewarded. It's good to see him swinging the bat. He's a big part of our lineup when it's going well."

Dozier's homer, which cut the Twins' deficit to 4-3, chased Richards, and the Angels turned to lefty Jose Alvarez to face the left-handed-hitting Kepler. Kepler was hit on his left hand by a 92.4-mph fastball from Alvarez, but it was ruled a strike, while Kepler had his hand checked by head athletic trainer Tony Leo before staying in the game.
Kepler showed he was fine, lining a solo shot to right field to tie the game at 4. His fifth homer of the year came on a 2-2 fastball and left the bat at 107 mph, traveling a projected 392 feet.

It marked the second time the Twins hit back-to-back homers this season. Eduardo Escobar and Logan Morrison connected on consecutive homers against the White Sox last Friday.
