Dozier close to Moustakas on Final Vote's last day
Twins sparkplug sitting second in AL race in last hours of balloting
MINNEAPOLIS -- Brian Dozier has helped his cause with a few clutch homers this week, but he remains in second place in the Esurance MLB All-Star Game Final Vote, according to the final ballot update released Friday morning.
Dozier still trails Kansas City's Mike Moustakas, who has registered 15.7 million votes. They're ahead of Detroit's Yoenis Cespedes and Boston's Xander Bogaerts.
Balloting is open through 3 p.m. CT on Friday, and the Twins created a #VoteDozier hashtag on Twitter. Fans can vote for Dozier at www.twinsbaseball.com/vote or by texting A3 to 89269. Fans can also vote via the #VoteDozer hashtag on Twitter.
Dozier entered Friday leading the American League with 47 extra-base hits, and also tied with Toronto's Josh Donaldson for the AL lead in runs scored with 65. He's hitting .257/.330/.513 with 18 homers, 26 doubles, three triples, 45 RBIs and nine stolen bases in 85 games. Dozier hit a walk-off homer on Monday and also connected on a go-ahead two-run blast on Wednesday.
Dozier's push has been helped by several athletes posting videos in support of his candidacy, including former NFL star Brett Favre, the Minnesota Wild's Zach Parise and Ryan Carter, the Minnesota Vikings' Chad Greenway and the Minnesota Lynx's Maya Moore.
The Twins also created a "No Bull, #VoteDozier," slogan with a bulldozer parked outside of Target Field. Twins players wore white T-shirts with that slogan during batting practice on Tuesday in support of Dozier.
Voting is open now at MLB.com to select the final player for each League's 34-man roster via the 2015 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Final Vote. Fans can cast their votes from a list of five players from each league until 3 p.m. CT on Friday.
During the All-Star Game presented by T-Mobile in Cincinnati on Tuesday fans can once again visit MLB.com to submit their choice for the Ted Williams Most Valuable Player Award presented by Chevrolet. Voting exclusively at MLB.com, online and via their mobile devices in the 2015 All-Star Game MVP Vote presented by Chevrolet. The fans' collective voice will represent 20 percent of the overall vote that determines the recipient of the Arch Ward Trophy.
MLB.TV Premium subscribers will be able to live stream the All-Star Game via MLB.TV through FOX's participating video providers. Access will be available across more than 400 supported MLB.TV platforms, including the award-winning MLB.com At Bat app. MLB.com will provide extensive online coverage of the All-Star Week festivities, including the 2015 Gillette Home Run Derby presented by Head & Shoulders, part of Gatorade All-Star Workout Day on Monday. The Derby will feature a new format with brackets and timed rounds and will be broadcast live by ESPN and MLB.com beginning at 8 p.m. ET.
