TORONTO -- Brian McCann was relieved to learn that a fluoroscope taken at Rogers Centre showed no fracture of his left big toe after the catcher was hit by a foul tip in the Yankees' 3-2 victory over the Blue Jays on Tuesday.
McCann remained in the game after the foul tip, which he said occurred in the fifth inning, and hit a game-tying home run in the sixth inning off Aaron Sanchez. Yankees manager Joe Girardi said that he does not expect McCann to play on Wednesday.
"It's sore. I'm thankful it's not broken," McCann said. "It was on my mind basically the whole rest of the game."

The Yankees initially said that McCann would be sent for tests off site, as Rogers Centre does not have an X-ray machine. Instead, a club spokesperson said that the Yankees were "comfortable" with the results of the fluoroscope, which was negative for a fracture.
McCann said that though the injury made it difficult for him to throw, he was reluctant to come out of the game, even if it was the right decision.
"If we had the lead, it was hard to throw," he said. "If I had to make a throw if a guy got to first base, I didn't want to do that to the team."
"We talked about taking him out after he hit in the sixth, and he said, 'No, I'm good, I'm good, I'm good,'" Girardi said. "You know how it is when your nail fills up with blood. It starts pounding."
McCann was eventually replaced by Austin Romine in the ninth inning.
"It's hard when you're catching," McCann said. "If something happens to Ro, you're sitting there with no catcher. I was just hoping the whole time that it was just blood in the nail and that it wasn't broken."
McCann is off to a good start this season, batting .500 (9-for-18) with 10 runs scored, two homers and four RBIs. Girardi said that if McCann is only expected to miss one day, the team would not need to make a roster move prior to Wednesday's game.
