DENVER -- Giants catcher Buster Posey joined umpires Ted Barrett and Jeff Nelson in the newest class of the Arizona Fall League Hall of Fame, it was announced Monday.

Posey played 19 games for Scottsdale in 2009, posting a .225/.345/.338 slash line. He also hit two home runs and collected 12 RBIs. Though those weren't remarkable statistics, the experience helped Posey become the Giants' starting catcher the following season when they captured the first of their three San Francisco-era World Series titles.

Posey said he was flattered by the honor and expressed pride in joining a list of players he grew up admiring. Posey preferred not to name any out of reluctance to omit anyone. But, he said, "I followed these guys as a fan for a long time."
