Encarnacion could return to lineup Tuesday

TORONTO -- Edwin Encarnacion missed his second straight game on Monday with a sore shoulder. Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said his slugger needed another day of rest, but expects to see him back in the lineup on Tuesday.

"One more day will probably do him some good," Gibbons said ahead of the series opener against the Marlins at Rogers Centre. "He's in there getting some treatment, he doesn't feel quite ready, but I'm guessing he'll be good tomorrow."

Encarnacion exited Saturday's game against the Astros and had a coritsone shot in his left shoulder. The shoulder was sore on Sunday, keeping him out of the lineup for the series finale.

The injured shoulder has been bothering Encarnacion for a couple of weeks, and the pain became too much to play through after three at-bats on Saturday.

Encarnacion is hitting .219 with 12 home runs and 33 RBIs this season.
