Cleveland, which placed Hagadone on the 15-day disabled list with a lower back strain on July 8, opens the second half with a three-game series against the Reds in Cincinnati, beginning Friday. The team will hold a voluntary workout at Great American Ball Park on Thursday night.

In 36 games for the Indians this season, the 29-year-old Hagadone has turned in a 4.28 ERA with 28 strikeouts and 12 walks in 27 1/3 innings. The lefty has a 4.72 ERA in 143 games in parts of five seasons with Cleveland.

Hagadone has had no history of elbow problems during his time with the Indians, but he did undergo reconstructive surgery on his throwing elbow as a Minor Leaguer with the Red Sox during the 2008 season.
