Nats may be without Robinson vs. Marlins

WASHINGTON -- There is a possibility that Nationals first baseman/outfielder Clint Robinson could miss the three-game series against the Marlins this weekend because his wife is expecting to have their baby girl at any moment.

"This is my first child," Robinson said. "My wife and I are scared, excited, pretty much every emotion you could have. She is due any day now. Who knows when that will be? Hopefully soon. I know she is ready for it to be here."

Robinson, 30, is in his first season in the big leagues and he has been a solid contributor to the Nationals off the bench. Entering Wednesday's action against the Mets, Robinson was hitting .272 with seven home runs and 30 RBIs. Being in the big leagues came at a good time for Robinson.

"Being in the big leagues is more than I have ever have hoped for, especially having a baby on the way and getting to spend a year in the Major Leagues," Robinson said. "It helps us out in numerous ways -- financially and all that kind of stuff. So that has been a positive. It's been a great year in every way. I'm very blessed."
