The Texas Rangers selected 30 players today on the final day of the 2017 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, which included rounds 11 through 40.
The Rangers selected 41 players overall in this year's draft. The 41 players include 29 pitchers (21 right-handed, 8 left-handed), 4 outfielders, 6 infielders, and 2 catchers. Texas selected 22 college players and made 19 high school picks.

In the 11th round, Texas selected shortstop Obie Ricumstrict out of Mount Pleasant High School in Michigan. The 6-foot-2, 175-pound Ricumstrict received offers to play both baseball and football in college and committed to play baseball at the University of Cincinnati. Ricumstrict's father, George, is a defensive line coach at the University of Central Michigan.
The club's 16th round selection was RHP Xavier Moore from Amherst Steele High School in Ohio. It is the same high school that produced current Rangers outfielder Ryan Rua. Moore is committed to Ohio State University.
In the 25th round, Texas chose left-handed pitcher Aaron Ashby from Crowder College in Missouri. He is the nephew of former major league pitcher Andy Ashby, who pitched in 309 games with the Phillies, Rockies, Padres, Braves, and Dodgers from 1991-2004.
The club's 29th round selection right-hander Blaine Knight was 8-4 with a 3.28 ERA (33 ER/90.2 IP) and 96 strikeouts in 17 games/16 starts for the University of Arkansas this season. He went to high school in Saline County in Arkansas, the same county that former Texas pitcher Cliff Lee attended high school. 
The Rangers selected Curacao native Edmond Americaan out of Chipola College in the 34th round. The pick was dedicated to Rangers international scout Jose Felomina, who passed away on February 23. Americaan played for Felomina in Curacao as a youth.
