Rockies Reinstate Catcher Tom Murphy; Option Ryan Hanigan

The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have reinstated catcher Tom Murphy from the 10-day disabled list (fracture, right forearm) and have optioned catcher Ryan Hanigan to Triple-A Albuquerque.

The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have reinstated catcher Tom Murphy from the 10-day disabled list (fracture, right forearm) and have optioned catcher Ryan Hanigan to Triple-A Albuquerque.
· Murphy, 26, was placed on the 10-day disabled list on April 2 with a right forearm fracture he suffered on March 11 when his arm struck Anthony Rizzo's bat on a throw to second base … was sent to Triple-A Albuquerque on June 3 for rehab and batted .414 (12-for-29) with four doubles, one triple, one home run and seven RBI in seven games … appeared in 21 games for the Rockies in 2016 and batted .273 (12-for-44) with two doubles, five home runs, 13 RBI and four walks … in two seasons with Colorado (2015-16), has batted .266 (21-for-79) with three doubles, eight home runs, 22 RBI and eight walks … was originally selected by the Rockies in the third round of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Buffalo.
· Hanigan, 36, has appeared in 13 games for the Rockies since having his contract purchased from Triple-A Albuquerque on May 3 and has batted .256 (11-for-43) with two home runs, eight RBI and three walks … posted a 3.04 catchers ERA in his 13 starts with the Rockies going 8-5 in those games … went 3-for-5 with a home run in his first game with the Rockies on May 4 at San Diego, becoming the first player in Rockies history to record a game-winning RBI in his first game with the club … was signed to a Minor League contract by the Rockies on March 28 … in parts of 11 seasons with Cincinnati (2007-13), Tampa Bay (2014), Boston (2015-16) and Colorado (2017), has batted .250 (476-for-1,901) with 69 doubles, one triple, 30 home runs and 210 RBI in 660 games.
The Rockies have 39 players on their 40-man roster.
