A limited edition T-shirt in honor of Edgar Martíinez's number retirement is available in all Seattle Mariners Team Stores, with a portion of the proceeds targeted for Seattle Children's Hospital. The shirts, both men's and women's styles, sell for $30 each, with $5 from each sale going to the Edgar Martínez Endowment forMuscular Dystrophy Research, established by the Mariners when Edgar retired in 2004.
The commemorative T-shirts feature the special logo created for the August 12 number retirement ceremony, as well as Edgar's name and #11 on the back. The shirts come in men's and women's sizes S-XXL.
The shirts are exclusively available at all five Mariners Team Stores at Safeco Field, Downtown Seattle (4th & Stewart), Bellevue Square, Westfield Southcenter and Alderwood Mall. Phone orders will also be taken for those living outside the greater Puget Sound area. The number is 206-346-4287.
Edgar is the second Seattle Mariners player to have his number retired. The first was Ken Griffey Jr., in honor of his 2016 induction to the National Baseball Hall of Fame. The ceremony will take place before the Mariners meet the Los Angeles Angels on August 12. Other special events during the celebration weekend include Edgar Martínez "Light Bat" Bobblehead Night on Friday, August 11, and Edgar Martínez Replica Jersey Day on Sunday, August 13.
