Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association mourn the passing of Jeffrey Anderson, M.D., who served as Independent Program Administrator for the game's Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program since 2012. 
MLB and the MLBPA issued the following joint statement: "We are deeply saddened by Dr. Anderson's passing. With great professionalism and integrity, he served a significant capacity in our game for the last five years. We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends and his colleagues at the University of Connecticut."         
Dr. Anderson was a longtime physician at the University of Connecticut. He was UConn's Director of Sports Medicine from 1993 until 2014 and more recently was the school's Medical Director for Student Health Services.  A permanent memorial fund has been established by the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine Foundation to honor Dr. Anderson's work and contributions to the field of sports medicine.
