Washington Nationals Homestand Highlights vs. Philadelphia Phillies (September 7-10), Atlanta Braves (September 12-14) & Los Angeles Dodgers (September 15-17)

The upcoming homestand features two events honoring our country's brave men and women, Heroes Day and U.S. Air Force Day. The Nationals will celebrate Roberto Clemente Day / Hispanic Heritage Day on Friday, and Pups in the Park and Yoga in the Outfield both return. In addition, this homestand includes two College Days, featuring George Washington University and Georgetown University.
 
Throughout the month of September, the Washington Nationals will celebrate our loyal fans as part of One Pursuit. Fans will have the opportunity to win prizes such as Nationals merchandise, authenticated items from Nationals players, NatsBucks and giveaways from the team's corporate partners.

  • Pups in the Park Presented by Budweiser: Nationals fans and their canine friends are invited to Pups in the Park presented by Budweiser. Fans and their pups will enjoy the designated Pup Zone in the Family Picnic Area, featuring pet sitters and representatives from the Humane Rescue Alliance and Fetch! Pet Care. All proceeds from dog tickets benefit the Humane Rescue Alliance. Visit nationals.com/Pups to purchase tickets and for additional information.
  • Hiring Our Heroes Expo Presented by Grant Thornton: All service members, veterans, and military spouses are invited to this event. The Expo will begin with a career connections workshop led by HR and workforce professionals. The workshop covers a variety of topics including resume building, networking and interview tips, taking into account the job seeker's military background and lifestyle. Participants will then attend the hiring fair that will feature more than 60 employers actively seeking to fill open positions. The event is from 8:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Nationals Park. Registered attendees can receive two free tickets to the Nationals vs. Phillies game that evening. To register, please visit hiringourheroes.org/events.
  • Harper's Heroes: In partnership with the Nationals and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Harper's Heroes is an ongoing program that treats families affected by childhood cancers to a fun-filled day at Nationals Park. RF Bryce Harper will host families from the Harper's Heroes program before the Nationals take the field against the Braves. The VIP experience includes a private meet-and-greet with Bryce as well as a special batting practice viewing, T-shirts, tickets to the game and NatsBucks.
  • Team Store Special: During the series against the Phillies, the Main Team Store will offer a Bryce Harper pin as the "Pin of the Month."
  • Budweiser Terrace Entertainment: Practically Einstein will be performing at the Budweiser Terrace starting at 5:00 p.m.

  • Roberto Clemente Day / Hispanic Heritage Day: The Nationals will honor the contributions of the Hispanic community to baseball and society by hosting Hispanic-themed entertainment throughout the evening. The radio station El Zol 107.9 FM will have a DJ and their street team performing in Center Field Plaza before the game. The event will include music, as well as a pregame flag presentation featuring Nationals players. Throughout the game, fans can also enjoy video tributes that honor Hispanic athletes who have made significant contributions to baseball. Pregame ceremonies will include:
    • U.S. Marine Corps Color Guard presenting our nation's colors (Clemente joined the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve in 1958 and served six months active duty at Parris Island (South Carolina), Camp LeJeune (North Carolina) and Washington, D.C.)
    • Lineup card delivery by Chepe, radio personality for El Zol 107.9 FM
    • Ceremonial first pitch thrown by the Honorable Jose Tomas Perez, the Dominican Republic's Ambassador to the United States
    • Play Ball! Announcement by Patricia De Lima, radio personality for El Zol 107.9 FM
  • Roberto Clemente Award Ceremony: MLB's Roberto Clemente Award recognizes the player who best represents the game of baseball through sportsmanship, community involvement and positive contributions, both on and off the field. The Nationals will honor 1B Ryan Zimmerman for his ongoing commitment to the community, best illustrated through his work with the ziMS Foundation, which he founded in 2006, his first full season in the Major Leagues. The ziMS Foundation aims to raise money for awareness and programs benefiting those afflicted with Multiple Sclerosis. Multiple Sclerosis is a disease quite close to Ryan's heart. In 1995, his mother Cheryl was diagnosed with MS, a chronic and unpredictable disease that affects the central nervous system. Zimmerman is one of 30 club nominees eligible to win the league-wide Roberto Clemente Award. Ana Recio Harvey will also be recognized as the community honoree. Ana leads the District of Columbia's Department of Small and Local Business Development, serving as the District-wide technical expert and advisor to the Mayor and the heads of District Departments and agencies on matters affecting economic development and local and small business enterprises. In 2009, Ana was appointed by President Barack Obama as the U.S. Small Business Administration's Assistant Administrator for Office of Women's Business Ownership. During her four-year tenure, Ana directed and oversaw the agency's efforts to develop and implement programs to increase access to credit and capital to women business owners.
  • Roark and Kelley Meet-and-Greet Presented by Coca-Cola: Nationals RHP Tanner Roark and RHP Shawn Kelley will be at the Harris Teeter store in Navy Yard from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. for a meet-and-greet with fans, presented by Coca-Cola.
  • Budweiser Terrace Entertainment: For the Win will be performing at the Budweiser Terrace starting at 5:00 p.m.

  • Champions Day #2: The Nationals are proud to support youth baseball and softball in the D.C. area with the Champions Day program. The second of two Champions Days is dedicated to honoring area youth baseball teams who have won championship titles. These teams will participate in a special Champions Day presentation during the pregame ceremony and will receive complimentary tickets, a Champions Day T-shirt, a DVD copy of the ceremony and a team picture.   • DC Public Library Summer Reading: The Nationals will celebrate another successful Summer Reading program with DC Public Library. For the last four years, the Nationals have been the program's lead sponsor.   • Winterfest Tickets: From 5:00 p.m. until the end of the third inning, Santa Claus will be at the Advanced Ticket Sales window in Center Field Plaza to celebrate Winterfest tickets being on sale in-park. Winterfest will be held Saturday, December 16 and Sunday, December 17 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.   • Patriotic Series Presented by SAIC - Heroes Day: In remembrance of the events that took place on September 11, 2001, the Nationals will host the final game of the 2017 Patriotic Series on Sunday. The rescue, aid, military and law enforcement workers who serve our country every day will be honored as part of the observance, which will also include a variety of patriotic elements with special guests in attendance. Pregame ceremonies are dedicated to first responders and military and will recognize the efforts of the Pentagon Memorial Fund.     • A special moment honoring Firefighter Dane Smothers, Jr., D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department, who was critically injured after being struck by a fire truck in Northeast Washington
  • Yoga in the Outfield #2: Yoga in the Outfield returns to Nationals Park for the last time during the 2017 season. With a special ticket purchase, fans will receive a one-of-a-kind Nationals yoga mat and have the opportunity to participate in a 45-minute yoga class on the outfield grass following Sunday's game.   • Family Funday: Sunday is Family Funday at Nationals Park! As part of this season-long program, the group will enjoy a private meet-and-greet with Anthony, a behind-the-scenes tour of a Nationals Front Office department, special batting practice viewing, tickets to the game and NatsBucks.   • Military Branch Days: U.S. Air Force Day, the fifth and final 2017 Military Branch Day, honors and celebrates the U.S. Air Force. Representatives from the U.S. Air Force will participate in the pregame ceremony. Highlights will include:

  • Opera in the Outfield: Celebrate the tenth season of free live opera simulcasts by joining Washington National Opera at Nationals Park for Aida at 7 p.m. The event is free to the public. The first 2,000 fans to get a wristband can sit on the outfield grass to watch the simulcast. Gates open at 5 p.m. for pre-opera activities.

GETTING TO THE BALLPARK
Parking options for Nationals fans start at $20 and are available online at nationals.com/Parking. Fans are encouraged to purchase parking in advance to ensure a space in their desired zone.

Fans can also get a ride to and from the ballpark at the tap of a button using Uber, the official ride-share partner of the Washington Nationals. New users can get their first ride free (up to $15) with the promo code NATIONALS17 by signing up at http://get.uber.com/new-signup/nationals17. When exiting the ballpark, fans are encouraged to head to one of Uber's suggested pickup locations shown at nationals.mlb.com/promo/map:

On June 25, new permanent hours went into effect for the entire Metrorail system. Fans are encouraged to review the new Metro schedule at https://wmata.com/service/status/details/june-25-changes.cfm.

Fans should also consider alternate forms of travel to and from the ballpark, including the D.C. Circulator from Union Station, biking to the ballpark or the baseball boat from Alexandria. Visit nationals.com/WayToGo for information on parking and transportation options to Nationals Park. To receive up-to-date WMATA service notifications on a mobile device, fans are encouraged to register for Alert DC at http://hsema.dc.gov/page/alertdc.

Fans traveling to the ballpark should be aware that there are construction projects underway in the surrounding area. To ensure safe crossings, please be mindful of signage and directions given by public safety officers. 

BALLPARK SAFETY
Nationals Park is a completely non-smoking and tobacco-free facility per District of Columbia law. There is no exception for electronic cigarettes or any other type of smoking device, or for smokeless tobacco or any other type of tobacco product. Guests wishing to smoke or use tobacco products must go to the designated smoking area at the First Base Gate. Guests wishing to exit Nationals Park to smoke or use tobacco products must present a valid ticket and receive a wristband before exiting Nationals Park. Guests wishing to reenter Nationals Park must return through the metal detectors with a valid ticket and assigned wristband.

MLB and the Nationals require that all people entering Nationals Park walk through a metal detector or be screened with handheld metal detectors to search for prohibited items.
