Padres Alumni to Play Marine Corps Recruit Depot All-Stars

The San Diego Padres today announced a Padres Alumni vs. Marine Corps Recruit Depot All-Stars softball game to take place Thursday, September 21 on Beeson Field at MCRD San Diego. First pitch is scheduled for 12:45 p.m. with notable Padres Alumni participants to include Trevor Hoffman, Carlos Hernandez, Mark Loretta, Randy Jones and many more. The MCRD All-Stars will be comprised of a team of 15 Marines and four Department of Defense personnel assigned to MCRD.

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Padres today announced a Padres Alumni vs. Marine Corps Recruit Depot All-Stars softball game to take place Thursday, September 21 on Beeson Field at MCRD San Diego. First pitch is scheduled for 12:45 p.m. with notable Padres Alumni participants to include Trevor Hoffman, Carlos Hernandez, Mark Loretta, Randy Jones and many more. The MCRD All-Stars will be comprised of a team of 15 Marines and four Department of Defense personnel assigned to MCRD.
Rules for the six-inning game will include the use of a designated hitter, a pitch ceiling of 10 feet and a five-run maximum per inning. Each team will be led by an Honorary Manager with the Padres Alumni being managed by former big leaguer and Padres pitching coach, Norm Sherry. The MCRD All-Stars will be managed by Sergeant Major Alex Dobson and captained by Master Gunnery Sergeant Andrew Korous. Padres public address announcer Alex Miniak will also be on-hand to provide live play-by-play commentary of the game. Service members on base, along with their families, will be treated to food, kids activities, giveaways, live entertainment and a meet and greet with current Padres players, as well as members of the Padres Alumni team. The event is closed to the public and only open to base personnel and their families.
The softball game on Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego follows the Padres Alumni vs. U.S. Navy All-Stars softball game held on Naval Base San Diego in June.
