Starting pitcher Jason Junk allowed an unearned run but zero hits before turning the ball over to a pair of relievers to complete a combined no-hitter in Class A Charleston's 7-1 win over Delmarva on Thursday.

Junk struck out six, hit two batters and issued one walk over five innings to earn the win in the RiverDogs' first nine-inning no-hitter since 1994. He threw 73 pitches in the outing, 48 for strikes.

The 22-year-old right-hander ran into trouble in the third inning, when his own throwing error, followed by a walk and a wild pitch, put runners on second and third with no outs ahead of Delmarva shortstop Mason McCoy, who put his club on the board with a run-scoring ground out. Junk would hit the next batter, putting runners on the corners with one out, but bounced back to record a pair of strikeouts and close the frame.
Austin DeCarr, 23, took over in the sixth and proceeded to deliver three hitless frames. The right-hander issued two walks, struck out three and generated four ground-ball outs while matching his longest relief outing of the season.
Daniel Alvarez needed just 13 pitches to complete a flawless ninth inning and secure Charleston's combined no-hitter.
