SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - After a couple of disappointing seasons at the plate, Desmond Lindsay came to the Arizona Fall League intent on proving he was still a good hitter and also made some tweaks to his swing to accomplish that goal.
The initial diagnosis? The new-and-improved swing is a success.
After hitting just three homers in 90 games this season, the Mets' No. 11 prospect went out and hit a pair of homers as he led Scottsdale to a 6-2 win over Salt River in his Arizona Fall League debut on Friday night.

"I've been working on a new swing, so today was the first day doing it, and I think it's safe to say I liked it pretty well," Lindsay said.

Lindsay added a bit of a leg kick to get a bit more rhythm into his swing, an adjustment that was made after he hit .223 in 2018 and .220 in 2017.
Not only did Lindsay show some pop with the two homers, but he also showed an ability to drive the ball to all fields as he went deep to both left and right field in what was also the first two-homer game of his career.
"Yeah, that was nice," Lindsay said. "I haven't hit an opposite field home run in about two years. In high school, that was my strength, driving the ball to right field so it feels good to do that again."
In addition to working on his swing, Lindsay is in Arizona to make up for lost time. The 21-year-old played 90 games this season, but has only played in 192 games over the past three years as he's dealt with multiple injuries.
The Fall League has also provided Lindsay the opportunity to interact with and learn from other top hitters in the Minors, including Mets' No. 2 prospect Peter Alonso.
"I've been here for about a week now and it's nice to just be able to talk to the different guys and pick up on little things that they see and that they do that help them," Lindsay said.
Lindsay broke the game open with solo homers in the fourth and sixth innings, but he also got the scoring started with an RBI groundout in the second inning. The second-round pick from the 2015 Draft, finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs.
"I'm trying to work on hitting," Lindsay said. "That's why I'm here. My past two years haven't been ideal, haven't been what I wanted, so I'm here to show what I can do and show that I still have it."
Through one game, it appears he still has it.
