Hamilton's surge deserves your All-Star tweet

ARLINGTON -- Despite feeling under the weather for the past week, Josh Hamilton has managed to put up historic numbers in May. They are the kind of numbers that tend to attract All-Star voters. Fans are encouraged to cast their votes and tweet their support.

Hamilton, who has homered in three of his past four games, became one of six players since 1920 to hit at least 21 home runs and 56 RBIs through his team's first 50 games after hitting a two-run shot Tuesday night. He drove in all three of his team's runs in a 10-3 loss to the Mariners, the Rangers' first defeat in five games.

The only other players to accomplish that feat are Babe Ruth (1926), Jimmie Foxx (1932), Ken Griffey Jr. (1997), Mark McGwire (1998) and Albert Pujols.

With 12 home runs and 31 RBIs this month, Hamilton also became the only player in team history to meet those marks in May and the fourth to do so in any month. Juan Gonzalez (July 1996), Rafael Palmeiro (August 1999) and Alex Rodriguez (August 2003) were the others.
