• Infielder Joey Gallo hit his 17th home run for the Arizona Rookie League Rangers on Sunday. That set a new record for the Arizona Rookie League. Gallo, who was the 39th overall pick in the June First-Year Player Draft out of Bishop Gorman High School in Nevada, has hit 10 more home runs than any player in the league. He also leads the league with 41 RBIs.

• Adrian Beltre was selected as the best defensive third baseman in the American League in a survey of managers by Baseball America. He is also rated as having the best infield arm.

• The Rangers have signed catcher Robinzon Diaz and assigned him to Triple-A Round Rock. He replaces Luis Martinez. Diaz has played in 44 Major League games with the Blue Jays and the Pirates in 2008-09 and was at Triple-A Salt Lake City earlier this season.
