• Manager Ron Washington said that Mike Olt should start in Thursday's series opener against the Twins, who will send left-hander Scott Diamond to the mound, although he is not sure at which position. Olt has not started since last Friday against the Blue Jays.

• Class A Spokane outfielder Royce Bolinger extended his hitting streak to a Northwest League-best 22 games by going 2-for-4 on Tuesday, while Triple-A Round Rock shortstop Luis Hernandez went 0-for-4, snapping a 16-game hit streak.

• Michael Kirkman, Tanner Scheppers and Robbie Ross combined to throw four scoreless innings in relief of Scott Feldman in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Orioles, giving the Rangers bullpen 13 1/3 consecutive scoreless innings entering Wednesday. The Rangers bullpen's 1.13 ERA since Aug. 11 is the third-best in the Majors, behind the Rays (0.33) and the Royals (1.11).
