Worth noting

• Outfielder Justin Maxwell was held out of the starting lineup for the second day in a row Thursday with a bruised right index finger.

"He still needs a day or two," interim manager Tony DeFrancesco said.

Maxwell entered Wednesday's game as a pinch-runner in the eighth inning. He leads all players on the Astros' active roster with 12 home runs.

• The Astros have yet to announce a starting pitcher for Saturday's game against R.A. Dickey in New York. Jordan Lyles (2-10, 5.70 ERA) will open the series against Jonathon Niese (10-6, 3.49). Lucas Harrell (10-9, 4.04) is slated to go Sunday against Jeremy Hefner (2-5, 5.11).

"We'll make a decision once we get to New York," DeFrancesco said.
