Short hops

• All-Star closer Huston Street threw in the bullpen before Tuesday's game against the Dodgers with manager Bud Black and pitching coach Darren Balsley watching closely. "Huston feels great, his arm feels fine, his delivery is fine," Black said. "The concern is his ability to field his position." Street had a setback with his strained left calf on Thursday. There's no timetable as to when he'll try to run on it again.

• Carlos Quentin, who was a late scratch Monday because of right knee irritation, was in the lineup on Tuesday and in left field. Quentin lined out to center field as a pinch-hitter in the Padres' 4-3 loss in 11 innings on Monday to the Dodgers.
